2001 GMC Sierra engine missfire.

Sometimes my engine will miss and shake and the truck will not go over 40km per hour. At the same time my engine light will flash. If I shut the engine off and restart it the problem goes away and the engine runs good. But the problem always comes back. Any Ideas?
