Check around for pricing and whether you want to do it. You can pick up a trans form a junkyard cheaper and anindependent trans shop may do it cheaper and guarntee it for a period of time as well. $3000 is a lot of money but you won'tet alot form your car if you trade it like that.

Check around for a transmission, check some auto salvage yards to see how much they are and check a local garage or a mechanic to see how much it would cost to put in. Should you get another car. That is up to you. Check the cost of another transmission compaired to another car. You have to decide if you want to keep what you have or if something else is better
