I feel like I am pretty well versed under the hood and have done a number of part replacements on various cars and engines. I am quite stumped on this one. PLEASE HELP. In the process of changing out the pump, I ran into one bolt on the timing belt cover that is a star head, of course it is the furthest top facing the passenger side closest to the fire wall. I at first tried allen wrench ( before I could see that it was star) then went to store with allen wrench to gauge the correct size, bought T30 and 40, 40 was too big and 30 too small. I am doing this work in parking lot, any suggestions?

Check to see if there is junk in the hole where t wrench goes it's probably a 40 just has crap or rust in it.

Thanks, with camera phone, took several pictures, even magnified, nothing that should block the 40, anyway, went back up to AZ and purchased the universal wrench, "chisel" and took a few taps. Upon further investigation, that star bolt was not intended to be there.

Got the timing chain cover off but I have not seen enough of an instruction on what to remove after that to enable me to get water pump off. (Passenger side mounted under plate and driven off timing chain) it appears that you have to remove the heads to be able to get to the the upper chain guides.

I have given in and will have a mechanic do it.
