I just jumped started the car

How can a control module could it go out by jump start the car? I am roadside service person and I had jump started a 2001 cadillac deville control module went out of it by jumping it?

It is the powertrain control module
i am being sue by old lady that said I burn it out when I had jump her car. Could you wirte me a letter for my court date
