My Jetta will randomly shut off when coming to a stop or driving slow. The EPC light will come on and the car will try to spin over, but never fire. Sometimes it will fire back up, sometimes it will not. When it does fire back up, the EPC light stays on. If it sits a little while and I crank it back up, the light will not always come on. It will try to start but wont. If it sits for a day or two it will start back up. Sometimes it will start up again a hr or two later. What could that be. I just replaced the starter. I also replaced the battery but I think they sold me the wrong battery because the terminals do not fit right. Could that be the problem also?

You seem to have several problems here. First, get the correct battery for your car as the cable ends should fit if the correct battery is given to you. Without the correct size battery and the correct posts or terminal connections you will have a real problems getting power from the battery to the starter. Once you get all of that electrical straightened out, then I think you need to look into other things. Get the trouble codes pulled to see why the light is coming on. Any Advance Auto or Auto Zone will do this for free and the readout will give you an idea of the issue. When you get the trouble code come back to us. I believe we may even eventually check the fuel pressure on the car, but not until after we see what the diagnostic code says is wrong.
