Won't start on first try or sometimes at all. Doesn't seem to be the battery.

I've had trouble starting my 2000 Jimmy SLE the last week or two. Last night it would not start. Hooked up a portable battery booster and no response. Hooked up cables to another truck and it wouldn't start. Within three minutes after removing the cables, the security bell started ringing, the headlights would turn on on battery, and on the second try, the engine caught. It was a freshly charged battery.

There was nothing at all when I tried to start it, hooked up to the battery booster or connected to the other truck. No clicking or flickering. It was like the battery was dead. Wondering about wiring or a solenoid.

Could be a starter going bad, or a solenoid. Intermittent issue with an ignition relay or the ignition switch.
