2000 Ford Explorer cooling system

I just attempted a radiator flush now my temp gauge reads way below normal(below the C line). When I run the a/c or turn the car off it goes up to about half way between hot and cold. I dont think the radiator was ever flushed before I did it nor the thermostat ever replaced. Is the problem the thermostat? [2000 ford exploder xls v6 manual tranny 170,000 mi]

Have the coolant sensor checked seems to be ok whena/c on from your explanation.
