How do I get at my air conditioning pump on my 2000 chevy cavalier 2.2L

The serpentine belt is held on by an automatic tensioner. You can release the tension using a special tool that you can get at most any auto parts store. Just tell them what you are trying to do and they can get you the part. It is basically a really skinny ratchet.
