Car goes dead while driving, lights and all

Car shuts off while driving even lights is this the alternator or battery. First noticed it this summer with air running. Now it does it even when air is not on.

It could be either. What you need to do is fully charge the battery and take it to a parts store. There, they will load test the battery and check the alternator. If both check good, check the fuseable link between the alt and the battery to make sure the alt can charge the it.
