My 1999 old alero is overheating. Replaced the thermostat. Works for awhile blowing warm air when rpms are high. When I press on the gas to get rpms up the engine revs up and down and then stalls when not in gear. Sometimes the car will sit and idle and other times it will not. The radiator was flushed and found no problems. Fan doesn't kick in.

With the engine hot, running, and the heater on, feel both heater core hoses. Both should be hot. IF they are, check the blend air door. If one is hot and the other cold, flush the heater core.

Make sure the coolant is full.
