It acts real funny when you stop

It is like it idles up and down like it wants to die. I have a 99 alero that whenever you stop it start jumping really bad and when you give it gas to drive its fine

Clean and test the idle air control valve, EGR and PCV valves and also test the TPS sensor

I dont know about in an alero, but I have a 97 subaru legacy that does that all the time but if you accelerate it doesnt do it as much, if I shift it down into 3rd instead of drive (its automatic) it doesnt do it at all. It is the speed sensor in mine. You may wanna check that if its an automatic. The speed sensor determines whether to stay in overdrive or shift down to drive, or vice versa. That may be whats causing it.
