1999 Chevrolet Cavalier A/C compressor

So this is the first time. I have. Tried putting refrigerant r-134a in this car.I got this car from my grandparents. The A/c blows hot. So I have put a can in and now the compressor comes on for a second. And. Kicks right back off again. It continually. Does this and its not blowing cool air. Can u help me with an explanation on what it could be? .

You can't just add a can of refrigerant, you must get the pressure readings and if the system is low. Vacuum down and do a leak test, when re charging refrigerant must be added using the correct weight using a 2 gauge A/C charging station, you may have over filled the system and the high pressure switch is shutting down the comp, this should be done by a qualified A/C tech to get the best results.
