My question The Volvo has new spark plugs, mass air flow sensor and gas cap. The car stalls out, stops completely after pausing at a stop sign. Upon recranking or starting the car, lots of white smoke comes out of the tail pipe. Is this a sign of water in the engine and or gasoline tank? Please tell me what would cause the car to choke out/ loose power when the foot is lifted off of the excellerator. Thank you

As far as the idle problem, that can be caused by things like a vacuum leak, a bad idle air control valve. As far as the white smoke, that usually indicates a bad head gasket. When coolant gets into the combustion chamber, it burns white. Check the coolant level to see if it is getting low. Check motor oil to make sure no coolant is getting into the oil.
