I've been hunting for a reliable used car and found this one in my area. I don't know anything about turbo enigines or this make/model so I've been researching all sorts of sites to educate myself. What I've found has been a mix of good & bad experiences, which I expected. I ran a Carfax & Auto Track and both came back clean with no reported issues. I test drove the car and everything looks good, from what I saw & felt. I'm taking the car to Firestone Care Center to have it inspected & a diagnositc check before I purchase the car. Q1 - Is this the best route or is there something else I can do to ensure I'm not buying a money pit? The turbo engine has me concerned, so I want to make sure I'm well informed before I get in over my head. Q2 - Do you know of any issues for this make/model that I should be advised of?

Looks to be in good shape and sound slike your research is good. Check its oil change records if possible, see if that was well maintained.

Turbos are nice engines, and if they are maintained they will last the life of the vehicle, but if they go out they are expensive to replace, keep that in mind.

Have any questions about how the engien works?

I would take it in as you said and have it looked at.
