Main question: Is there problem if a car has been sitting in a drive way for an extended amount of time? Additional Question: The car needs to be repaired either way. Could be a head gasket or some other related issue. Would be nice if it was just a Computer module issue. Does not start and does not make any noise when the key is turned to start the engine. Any online guides to research or read up on? Costs?

Hello,

There are number of things that could prevent a car from not starting.
So does the dash lights come on when you turn the key to on position?
Have you tried jump starting it?

You could just have a bad battery due to the vehicle sitting for a long time.
That would be the first item to check.
Then you want to see if you are getting any noise from the starter.
Is it clicking?
To verify the starter you need to check the starter relay and the starter.
First check the relay. The relay is located under the dash (see diagrams).
You can test the relay:

Check to see if you are getting power to the starter.

I have attached starter replacement procedure for your reference.

Please let me know of any questions.

Thank you.
