I have a 1997 Toyota tacoma 2.7l, and it has been having power surges like the engine isnt getting enough gas to maintain the power at 35mph+. I will be driving and it will lose power and then get it back. It is a 5 speed and it almost feels like the engine shuts off then turns back on. Can anyone give me any hints on what may cause this?

Do you have a check engine light on?

Could be caused by one of the following below:

Oxygen sensor.
Catalytic converter.
Fuel injectors dirty/sticking.
Mass airflow sensor/Airflow meter.
Throttle position sensor.
Crankshaft position sensor
Knock sensor
Manifold absolute pressure sensor.
EGR Valve
Fuel pressure regulator leaking or defective fuel pump.
Fuel contamination.
Foul/defective spark plugs.
Open spark plug wires.
Ignition coil/Coil packs defective.
Incorrect ignition timing.
Cap and rotor.

Note:If it doesn't apply disregard it and keep testing.
