My 97 Pontiac grand prix makes a loud humming noise starting at 35mph and does not stop until back below 35? It sounds like it is coming from the front center of the car and is loud enough to drowned out the radio. It has no effect on the performance or handling of the car just very scary not knowing what it could be.

Sounds like a bad hub bearing, try this test, get up to the speed the noise starts, then quickly turn left, then straight, then right, do this on a straight section of road, if the noise goes away during one of the turns, the opposite bearing is bad. If noise does not go away, then it's inside the pumpkin, carrier or pinion bearing.

Cool thank you I will give that a try. Its really weird because when I let off the gas it still does it until I get below 35 and it disappears?

Yep it sure sounds like a hub bearing at a wheel.
