Could this be something wrong with my fuel pump?

My car won't start sometimes after a while of driving it and sometimes once it does finally start it dies out on me as if it's not getting gas. What does this mean?

When the problem occurs, if it cranks good but won't start, have a helper crank it while you check for spark at the plugs. If you have spark everywhere, use a gage and check fuel pressure. How long since a tune-up? Any applicable trouble codes? Some of the national brand autostores used to check codes for free, if there are any. To check for codes, yourself, at the least, you need an obd2 code reader.

When it refuses to start, does it crank ok?
