1997 Honda Accord 2

1997 Honda Accord 2.2 L, bought this car used I knew they had problems wit overheating but I figured I could figure out the problem. My concern now is that it may have cracked head/ gasket no white smoke and the oil level although a little high hasn't seem to have gained anymore. I changed out the thermostat flushed the engine idled rough new plugs and wires it seems as if thermostat is not opening, also think timing is off a little, I think they had the water pump changed out box in trunk with old pump. Why still overheating i'm stumped!
