The AC only works for a short time then blows hot air. Everything else is good. Approx 125,000 miles on the car. What could be wrong? Is it worth repair?

It could be any number of things. It's going to have to be troubleshooted while the problem is present with a professional set of gauges to determine exactly what is taking place. No mater what goes wrong with an A/C system, the result is the same. Warm air.
