I have a 1996 oldsmobile aurora V8 has over 170,000 miles I have been running into some stalling sometimes but not all the time. Seams when engine temp nears 200 degrees and I slow down to turn or stop it stalls out also at times my idle with excellerate without me touching the gas peddle I would shut car off and press the gas peddle all the way down to the floor a couple of times and sometimes it fixes the problem, but it doesnt do it all the time could this be a excellerator positionning sensor gone bad or could it be something else. Please help!

Hello,

This sounds like an issue with the idle air control valve.
If you have dirt and debris build up inside the valve, it will have restricted air flow internally and that can trigger rough idle or even stalls depending on how clogged it might.
That valve ca be serviced by cleaning it out.
The idle air control valve is located on the throttle body (see diagram below).
Here are couple of helpful articles:

It will also be a good idea to clean out the throttle body. As a dirty throttle body does affect the way the engine performs.

I attached diagrams for your reference.

Please let me know of any questions.
Thank you.
