Engine will not start

If you have a good spark to the plugs, then it is not getting fuel. Have you checked to make sure the fuel pump pressure is within the manufacturer's specs?

Try a little test. See if the engine will start for a couple seconds using starting fluid. Try that and let me know what you find.

Thank you for your response but what I did not check was for spark from distributor to the plugs. That is where my problem was. I rook off cap and the rotor was broken. Problem fixed. Also, I did check for fuel pressure which I had. Thanks again.

1996 Ford E-Series Van V8 Automatic.

We have replaced fuel pump, filter, new plug, rotor, distributor, IAC control, pressure regulator, ignition module, and checked the battery ground wire, no corrosion, we also checked the timing belt/chain and it is turning.

The problem: About two months ago while driving the engine shut off while going down the road. Pulled over and after about ten minutes it restarted and ran like a dream. There after it would run fine for miles then shut off going down the road, and not restart. Then about two days ago drove it to work, it sat for two hours and went out to come home and it would not start and had to two home. When trying to start. The engine will not turn over. It is acting like it wants to start but will not. Help! Do not know what to do,

Thanks, Ronda

Lets do below for a start to determine if it is fuel or spark related issue.

Get a helper disconnect a spark plug wire or two and ground it to the engine at least 3/16 away from ground. Have helper crank engine over do you have a snapping blue spark? If so you have a fuel related problem, check the fuel pressure to rule out the fuel filter/fuel pump/pressure regulator and listen to the injector/s are they pulsing or hook up a noid light. No snapping blue spark continue to troubleshoot the ignition system-power input to the coil/coil packs, coil's resistances, distributor pick-up coil, ignition control module, cam and crank sensors and computer.

1996 Ford E-Series Van V8 two wheel drive automatic 130,000 miles.

Hello,
My E-150 van will not start when it rains.
I thought it was the rubber gasket seal for the hood, but I glued back on and added weather stripping around the inside of the hood to keep water out.
Any ideas on what to check is getting wet when the car
sits in the rain? Engine cranks but, will not start until after then rain stops and it dries up.
Thanks for any help in advance.

Have you ever checked to see if you had spark to the engine when this happens? Also, try this trick. In the dark, start the vehicle, open the hood and mist water on the plug wires, distributor cap. To see if you find any arcing from the ignition system.

Let me know.

Joe

I have got the same problem. My 1993 E-350 started getting hard to start in the rain, after a while it would run rough when it rained. Eventually I had to have it towed during a rainstorm. Since then I have been able to drive it in good weather. Though it seems to overheat when I am in traffic I do not know if that is related. I have not had time to check the electrical's, I am not even sure how to get to the cap and rotor.

In addition to my last reply, I did check, and there was spark at the plug but still no start (when it rained).
