Hello my name is katie and I have a '96 Chrysler Cirrus LX 2.5L with 155k miles. Last week I almost ran out of gas, I made it to station and thought things were fine. I drove it on freeway 15 miles then it stopped acceleration and idleled roughly then died. It started back up (rpms low/ rough idle) I pressed on gas but rpms wouldnt rise until I let off pedal, it shortly died. I replaced all spark plugs&wires, cleaned EGR valve. My fuel pump works fine, I can hear it come on when I turn key/start car. I dont understand, it seems if I let my car sit for a day or two then it drives fine for about one day then suddenly while driving starts acting like its starved for fuel and completely stalls out. Im really scared to drive it, and every mechanic has told me something different. Ive already spent over $400 in parts and labor and im still at square one. PLEASE HELP? THANK YOU

I feel the fuel pump is bad or you have a plugged fuel filter. I know you hear the pump run, but that doesn't mean enough pressure is provided to the engine. Has anyone checked fuel pump pressure?

Yes I believe so, thats part of the reason why we cant figure out why it runs fine for a while then stalls. I was thinking it might be a sensor? The troubling part is whatever the problem is, it happens if I drive it too far or too often without letting it sit long enough in between?

ROGER!

WE CAN TELL YOU ARE REALLY EAGER TO JUMP ON THIS!

J & N (THE FELLER WHO ANSWERED YOU ABOVE), NEEDS TO KNOW "EXACTLY" WHAT THE FUEL PRESSURE IS (LIKE IN P.S.I.)

CONTINUING TO "SLING" PARTS ON IT, IS GONNA BE A WASTE OF $$$ AND A GUESSING GAME

SLINGIN' MAY MAKE YOU FEEL LIKE YOU ARE ACCOMPLISHING SOMETHING AND FAST, BUT USUALLY YOU AIN'T!

J & N WILL STICK WITH YOU ALL THE WAY, AND WILL GIVE IT HIS ALL, IN STEERING YOU INTO THE RIGHT DIRECTION, THE RIGHT TESTS, ETC

(IF YOUR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON, HE'LL NEED TO KNOW THAT FOR SURE, HE'LL TELL YOU WHERE AND HOW TO GET THAT CHECKED, HE WILL NEED THE EXACT CODE NUMBERS IF INDEED THE LIGHT IS ON)

. BUT HE'S GONNA NEED SUPER ACCURATE INFO FROM YOU (LIKE TESTS) TO DO SO. THIS WILL EXPEDITE YOUR FIX!

I'M JUST UNHAPPY YOU DON'T HAVE A JEEP CJ SO I THAT I COULD AID YOU THE BEST

J & N IS BETTER WITH THESE NEW JOBS!
