1995 Saturn SC1 starting problem

When I try to start the car sometimes it will start for one second and then die. To start it I have to push the gas pedal all the way down and turn the key over. Then it will finally start. No engine light or nothing and my gas mileage has been lower since this problem started. I've had it checked many of times and still does same thing.

Sounds like a bad coolant temp sensor the bottom one of the two you will see with two wires going to it. Very common for them to fail. Also inspect the inside of the connector if the terminals are blue or green instead of silver replace the connector also.
