Car noises while idling

I have a 1995 Pontiac Grand AM SE-Quad 4 cylinder; I just bought the vehicle and when idling the car shakes really bad and makes a semi-loud noise. Also, when reversing it is extremely loud. When driving though the car drives wonderfully and is a smooth ride. It doesn't overheat and stays cool. Battery is new, oil sensor is new, hoses are new, etc. Just would like to know possibilities of what this noise could be.

Your description isn't very specific at all. I suggest you have it looked at by an experience technician and we may be more help after getting an accurate description of what the engine is doing.
