Where does the rotor point when motor is a tdc having trouble get the timing right truck starts but have no power

It starts up but I didn't set the timing with a gun runs good for about 5min then it gets a rough idle then dies if I put my foot on the gas it doesn't go nowhere if the distributor is off would that be a problem

The rotor should be pointing to the number 1 spark plug terminal when on TDC.

However, if the engine starts and runs then shuts off, this is not a timing issue. The timing may not be correct but that is not causing the no start.

Let's start with checking the fuel pressure as that is going to be the likely cause.
