Heres how you figure gas mileage fill the car up till the pump turns off. Then reset your trip odometer drive the car atleast 200 miles then fill the car back up till the pump turns off. Then divide the miles driven on the trip odometer by the gallons of gas it took to refill the tank. That will tell you overall gas mileage not using how much it cost to fill the tank the price of gas is up and down. Also you cant use a gas gauge working ir not to figure it out ethier.

Thats a tough question because all ecms dont always fail in the same way. What I do is rule everything else out and suspect the ecm last.

I would think something was wrong with the guys scan tool since pep boys was able to read your codes. So do you have a 16 pin connector for your scan tool to hook up?

It only does domestic obd1 cars iam not real impressed with it But it reads codes on the engine with some live data and reads transmission codes.
