Why does my transmission leak out of the front?

I rebuilt my engine and swapped the transmission, replaced the front pump seal and torque converter out of a 98 cherokee. Worked great for 7 months then out of nowhere it sprayed fluid everywhere and smoked bad. What could cause this to keep happening and how can I fix it cheaply and effectively?

I replaced the front pump seal 7 months ago. What could cause it to go out in such a short time?
