I have a 1995 chevy cavalier and after a morning start I drove about 6 miles and after the 4 redlight where I stopped it would not shift out of first gear, auto trans by the way, after it sit for about 3 hours and fluid checked ok, it fired right up and shifted fine, it has done this 4 times now?

Have you checked the fluid when the engine is hot, running, and in park? Is the fluid clean? Have any warning lights come on?

Yes, fluid is fine, speedo goes to 0 everytime right before it stops shifting, but after it sits awhile it will shift fine
