1994 Pontiac bonne, 3800, 6cyl. Security light on, when it goes out car will start. Had new ignition put in 3 yrs. Ago, did same thing. After it sits awhile will start, otherwise does nothing, it is not the battery. Also could it be in the shifter?What do you think?

I hate to say it, but the vehicle needs to go to a dealer to be diagnosed. They are the only ones with the proper test equipment to identify where the problem is coming from with at factor system.
