1994 Ford Explorer Transmission

Hello my name is Tony. I am having trouble with my transmission. All of a sudden I lost revers. The forward gears don't change. My question is what could cause that? I drove the truck home with no problems. It sat for a day or two when I went to move it I had no revers. Is there a bad switch on it or what. I rebuilt the motor a few months ago. The motor is tight and runs great I get 400 miles to a tank of gas. What could cause my transmission to just go out like that. Thank you

These transmissions are known to have many problems and have sudden failures, best go get it tested by a trans specialist they can do a few tests to determine the exact cause, you can get a trans code read done, for any electrical problem, you can start here.
