I PARKED MY CAR ONE NIGHT IN THE DRIVEWAY THEN WHEN I WENT BACK OUT LATER ON THAT NIGHT IT WOULDNT COME OUT OF PARK. IT WILL LET YOU MOVE THE SHIFT SELECTOR FREELY BUT IT WONT ENGAGE ANY GEARS. SMH. I AM THINKING IT IS THE SHIFT TUBE. BUT IS THERE A WAY TO MANUALLY MOVE IT SO I CAN GET THE CAR INTO DRIVE AND TAKE IT TO A SHOP?
Do you
have the same problem?

The shifter cable is disconnected on one end or broken. You can drive the car but you're going to need a brave helper who trusts you to not run them over. Once the engine is started, you must hold the brakes on firmly, then the helper has to crawl underneath to the transmission and move the shift lever manually into "drive". At that point, once they crawl out from under there, you can only go forward, you won't be able to restart the engine if it stalls, of course you won't be able to back up, and you won't be able to put it back in "park" by yourself.

The first thing your helper should do when he's under there is watch the cable while you move the shift lever. If you're lucky, it's just disconnected underneath and can be reattached.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH. ONE MORE THING THOUGH. WHICH DIRECTION SHOULD I BE MOVING IT TO CHANGE IT TO REVERSE? I WANT TO JACK THE CAR UP BUT MY DRIVEWAY IS ON A HILL. IF I CAN GET IT INTO MY GARAGE I CAN SEE FOR MYSELF WHATS GOING ON.

Don't know which way to move it but it will only go one way. It's in "park" now, and it can't go any further that way.
