If the noise of steering grinding, it should be due to a dry contact under the steering wheel if vehicle is not equipped with airbag systems. You need to remove the steering column covers to apply some lubricats to the horn contact under the wheel near center of column.

For brakes squealling, it would depend on when it occurs.
It could be due to wear of pads and the wear indicator is brushing against the rotor emitting the noise.
If it occurs only when applying the brakes, it could be due to worn rotors and the edges are brushing against the side of the pads. The other possibilities are brake pad quality and excessive brake dust between the pads and rotors.
