Had problems starting, when vanwas switched on, fuel pump ran exceptionally long time, then finally stopped running, then engine would crank as if fuel pressure was sufficient. Recently replaced entire fuel pump assembly. Also checked fuel filters, electrical connections, fuses and relays. Problem now is--fuel pump does not run when ignition is turned to on. Van will not crank. What needs checking now?

First, make sure the EEC relay (under the hood in relay block) is good. Switch it with another relay with the same part number to see if the pump runs. If that doesn't help, check the fuel pump relay the say way. If that still doesn't help, you need to check if there is power to the fuel pump relay. If there is, then you need to remove the fuel tank again and check for power at the plug where it attaches to the pump. If there is no power, trace wiring back to relay checking for breaks and power loss. If there is power to the pump and it doesn't run, replace the pump. NOTE: If the pump continues running longer than it should, check the fuel pressure regulator to make sure it is working and check for leaks preventing the system from fully pressurizing.
