THROTTLE VALVE LINKAGE/CABLE ADJUSTMENTS
AOD
Set parking brake and place shift selector in Neutral. DO NOT check or set Throttle Valve (T.V.) Pressure with gear in Park. Remove air cleaner cover and inlet tube from throttle body. Use a wide-blade screwdriver to pry grooved pin on cable out of grommet on throttle body lever. See Fig. 1.
Use a small screwdriver to push out White locking tab. See Fig. 1. Ensure plastic block with pin and tab slides freely on notched rod. If it does not slide freely, White locking tab may not have been pushed out far enough. Repeat procedure until tab slides freely.
While holding throttle lever firmly against its idle stop, push grooved pin back into grommet on throttle lever as far as it will go. Ensure throttle lever does not move away from idle stop when installing grooved pin. Install air cleaner cover and air inlet tube.

Remove splash shield from cable retainer bracket. Loosen trunnion bolt on Throttle Valve (T.V.) Rod. See Fig. 2. Install plastic clip to bottom of T.V. Rod using T.V. Linkage Adjustment Tool (T91P-7000-A). Clip keeps T.V. Rod from telescoping.
Ensure T.V. Return spring is connected between T.V. Rod and retaining bracket to hold T.V. Lever in idle position. Throttle lever should be resting on throttle return control screw. Tighten trunnion bolt. Remove plastic clip using T.V. Linkage Adjustment Tool (T91P-7000-A). Install splash shield and check for proper operation.
