I was given a 1991 dodge shadow and the brake lights are not working when you press down on the the bulbs are working because they are new and also the fuses have been replaced so what can it be?

Can you explain that better? If you're pushing the bulbs into the sockets and they work then, check to see if the contacts in the sockets are melted into the plastic. Adding a small blob of solder to the terminals on the base of the bulbs will solve that.

Some of the sockets have pushed-in ground terminals that can corrode. New terminals are available but it's just as easy to replace the sockets.

These are dandy little cars and they're really tough in a crash.
