I got a 1990 prelude and when it idols the rpm's rev up and down. Most of the time it does this until it warms up. But sometimes it does this no matter how long I drive it. I hope you can give me some ideas to work with?

Ensure the coolant level is correct. Low coolant level or clogged hoses to the IAC and Fast Idle Thermal valve would have same efffect. Ensure thermostat is not staying in open position.

Check the power steering fluid condition and level. Replace the fluid if necessary and retest. If noise persists, the pump or pressure hose could be the cause of the noise.
