I was pulling away from a stop sign and the engine died and would not restart. I removed the fuel filter and it was full of fuel and when I blew thru it was not plugged. When I depressed the fuel pressure valve the fuel dribbled out instead of spraying out like on other efi engines. The engine tries to start when key is in the start position and the dies when released to the run position. When the engine tries to run it acts like it is fuel starved. I can hear the fuel pump run when I turn the key on but then it quits after a couple of seconds. This is normal on other efi cars that I have owned but unsure on this one. Please help

You need to start by checking to make sure the fuel pump pressure is within the manufacturer's specs. It sounds like it may be working, but may not be producing the pressure needed to run the vehicle.
