Transmission has hard time shifting

Transmission will not shift for some miles, then when it does start shifting it downshifts alot on it's own

Sounds like it is worn out internally. I would have a trans shop drive it and give you there opinion and get a bid for the repairs.

Check to see if kickdown/shift control lever has fallen off. It uses a plastic bushing that wears away with time and then can pop off bracket arm. It's on side of throttle body linkage and goes down to trans lever. About 8-12" long
