The control is turned off. The temperature is set on 60 and I fill hot air on the flour. When I try turning on the airconditioner it will not come on, but will blow hot air.

Is the compressor engaging? Does the switch or an indicator come on?

Also, do any of the other settings work properly? Will it blow through the defroster ducts, etc?

Check to see if the clutch is turning on. If no you will have to refill the sys. Most likly theirs a leak. As far as the air delivery. If its blowing out the top and the bottom and not the vents. This is caused by low vacuum. Check the round vacuum canister under the hood for a leak, or any hoses. Does the cruise control engage?

Yes the compresser come on when it work correctly. This is a intermitted problem. It dosn't always happen. But for now when I do push one of the fans speeds it will work. But at the same time I can't control the temp. Even whe the temp is set ot 60 the air will not come on. I don't know if there is a short in the system or something else. The man I bought the car form, said he replaced (not sure whats it is called) a part on the firerwall. Wires going to it.

The a/c programer is behind the glovebox. A black box that has a arm on it. As you go from 60 to 90 degrees the motor opens and closes the recurkulation door. Go do this and make sure the motor is working. Then come back.

Yes the compressor come on. It doen't make a difference what the climate controll temp is set at. The blower will change from the flour to the defrost, but the temp stays the same (hot). Even when the temp. Is st to 90 the compressor comes on and the temp stays hot

Thats it, if the motor wont move when u change the temputure. Youll need to replace the programmer. Pop the rod off and close the door by pushing or pulling it to see if the air gets cold.

The lack of control over where the air comes out is due to a vacuum issue. Check for vacuum leaks.

Remove the vacuum hoses on the a/c programer and test it with a vacuum gauge. They are not that expensive. If its not in the green youll have to find where its leaking by using brake cleaner. Spray the hoses and componates down when you hear the engine rpms raise that is where it. It sucks the spray in the vacuum sys. And causes the rpm to rise. If you just want a/c, wire or prop the resurculation door so it only blows cold untill you get the programmer.
