I changed the starter on my xj 6, but the car does not start, so I changed the ignition switch and still no start or click just a hissing sound. I can start my car under the hood by the starter relay, I take the w/r wire and touch the open circuit.

Repost question it's not very detailed. But make sure to check relays to see if starter is getting power.

I changed the starter and then my car would not start when put key in ignition, I changed ignition switch but still will not start. I checked starter relay and took w/r wire from c4 and touched c2 prong on relay and my car starts right up. My key is in the 3 position while I touch the w/r wire to the c2 prong on the relay and it starts and stay on until I turn the key to the off position, but If I try to start with key nothing. So I beleive the start relay is working because is start the car when I short the wire in the starter. I don't know if I need a starter relay.

The white red activates the starter solenoid. See if that gets power when you try to start via ignition switch. If it doesn't, the go toe the starter /ballast relay and see if the blk/grn wire is giving power if it'snot then you may have a nuetral switch problem, but it cold be teh ignition relay bad as well so you need to check the white/pink wire for power as well as the fuse in the underhood fuse box. I think itis fuse 13, there is a white/pink wire on one side and lt grn on other.

I would suspect the starter relay. Is there any reason your engine would have seized? You might want to see if you can turn the crankshaft to see if it will spin. The white red activates the starter solenoid. See if that gets power when you try to start via ignition switch. If it doesn't, the go toe the starter /ballast relay and see if the black/green wire is giving power if it's not then you may have a neutral switch problem, but it cold be the ignition relay bad as well so you need to check the white/pink wire for power as well as the fuse in the under hood fuse box. I think it is fuse 13, there is a white/pink wire on one side and lt's green on other.
