Fair enough.
I took off the extra grounds and put everything the way it was on the wiring diagram you posted.
Can I just uncap the vents on the carb or do they have to be set up the way you have them. Piped into a "T"?
Also. In that last pick I sent it showed the PCV. It looks like the one you said it should be. The one on the front is a "T" shape, the one on the back is just an elbow the feeds into the air cleaner.

I'll track down a tack and find TDC the way you discribed.
I'll let you know when I'm squared away and caught up.

PCV

CAP OFF THE LITTLE SIDE

YOUR FREE FLOWING ELBOW IS GREAT!

I'VE SEEN SO MANY PEOPLE STICK ANOTHER PCV IN THE BACK HOLE. AS THE FRONT ONE IS SUCKING OUT THE INTERNAL ENGINE CAVITIES, IT MUST BE REPLENISHED WITH CLEAN AIR. SO IF YOU STICK ANOTHER PCV IN THE OTHER HOLE AND HOOK IT TO THE AIR CLEANER.-.-.-.-.-LOOKS PRETTY.-.-.-.-.-.HOWEVER THE FRONT ONE IN REALITY IS TRYING TO SUCK ON THE BOTTOM OF THE REAR ONE. THE REAR ONE IS CLOSED OFF NOT ALLOWING AIR IN THAT DIRECTION.-.-.-.-.-.-.NO BIG DEAL?.-.-.-.-.-YES IT IS!

THE AIR PASSING THRU THE FRONT ONE GOES TO THE CARB/ INTAKE MANIFOLD. IT IS PART OF THE AIR/ FUEL MIXTURE SORTA CALIBRATED INTO THE MAKING OF THE CARB. A PERFECT BURN IS 14.7 PARTS AIR TO 1 PART FUEL. IN HILLBILLY "DUMB" TERMS AND FOR LACK OF BEING A SCIENTIST I'M GONNA SAY YOU MIGHT BE STARVING IT 2 PARTS AIR (THE REST THAT IS NEEDED COMES THRU THE THROAT OF THE CARB)

THE METERING RODS/ PASSAGES/ AND OTHER CARB PARTS A DESIGNED FOR THIS PCV AIR TO BE THERE!

IT'S KINDA THE REVERSE OF A VACUUM LEAK WHEN IT'S NOT THERE. YOU CANNOT PROPERLY TUNE A VEHICLE WITH A VACUUM LEAK, THERE IS TOO MUCH AIR AND THE CARB CANNOT MAKE UP THE NEED FOR MORE FUEL. IF YOU DO ATTEMPT TO TUNE IT WITH TOO MUCH OR TOO LITTLE AIR (THAN IT WAS DESIGNED FOR) EVERYTHING GETS EXPONENTIALLY OUT OF WHACK. IDLE SUFFERS OR RUNNING SUFFERS.

THE 2 CARB VENTS IN QUESTION CAN BE LEFT OPEN (DIRT DAUBERS MIGHT NEST IN 'EM-THAT'S JUST LIKE PLUGGING THEM OFF). YOU COULD WRAP SOME SCREEN WIRE OVER 'EM/ PANTY HOSE/ A FUEL FILTER/ ENGINEER YOUR OWN FIX! AS LONG AS THEY CAN BREATHE.

I HAVE A NEW REMAN SPARE CARTER BBD CARB. REASON BEING NOW IS I HAVE PUT ON THE HOLLEY 390 4 BARREL AND A 4 BARREL OFFENHOUSER INTAKE.

ALL OF THIS IN MY QUEST FOR BETTER MPGs!

I'VE OWNED NOTHING BUT CJs AS DAILY DRIVERS, SINCE I WAS ALLOWED ON THE ASPHALT IN 1981

I WOULD DIE, IF I COULD NOT LOOK OVER THOSE HOODS EVERYDAY!

I'VE HAD 6 CJ 5s AND A WILLYS

I HAVE TRIED NEARLY EVERY "TRICK/ GIMMICK" TO INCREASE MILEAGE.-.-.-.-TORNADO/ OPPOSING MAGNETS ON THE FUEL LINE TO THE CARB/ SPLITFIRE AND OTHER SPARK PLUGS/ LIGHTER OILS/ ADDITIVES/ WEBER CARB "PROMISING A 20% IMPROVEMENT/ ETC

I EVEN RIGGED UP A LABORATORY KINDA DEAL WITH A VACUUM PUMP AND A "FLOATING BALL IN A TUBE". IT WAS KINDA SENSITIVE, AND IN MY OWN KINDA WAY, I COULD MEASURE/ RATE THE FLOW THRU DIFFERENT PCV VALVES. BASICALLY, I COULD LAY 'EM IN AN ORDER SAYING THIS ONE HAS MORE OR LESS FLOW THAN THAT ONE! MY GOAL WAS TO "TWEAK" UP OR DOWN FROM THE "CORRECT ONE" FOR AN IMPROVEMENT. IT WAS A WASTE OF BORROWING STUFF/ TIME AND MONEY! THE OEM WAS THE BEST PCV!

OVER THE YEARS, MOSTLY 15 MPG AND 16 HERE, THERE, AND YONDER WAS THE BEST I COULD DO. OTHER THAN THE 17 MPGs WITH MY TIRES INFLATED TO 50 (JUST ONCE!)

WITH MY HOLLEY, CORRECTLY JETTED FOR MY DRIVING HABITS, I MOSTLY GET ABOUT 18 MPGs, WITH A DROP INTO THE 17s AND 16s WHEN I ALTER MY GRAND-MAW DRIVING ROUTINE!

I SWORE I WOULD IMPROVE THE MPGs, NOT AS MUCH AS I WOULD LIKE, BUT I HAVE WON! I SPENT MEGA MONEY AND TIME- KEPT MEGA RECORDS FOR EACH FILL UP- NOW I'M SORTA CONTENT-I NOW ENJOY MY "18" -NO HASSLES/ NO CONSTANT SCHEMING IN MY HEAD LIKE BEFORE!
