Transmission will not shift into any gear?

What can I do if my car doesn't want to shift out of park? Haven't done oil change for the 2 weeks that the light had turned on I was parking my car had the gear in reverse and it all of a sudden didn't want to go into park or no other gear. Please help.

Just to be clear, the shifter will move but it doesn't engage any gear?

If this is the case then we need to start with checking the fluid. If the fluid is low then it will not engage. However, this normally doesn't happen all of a sudden. If you rev the engine will the transmission buck or jerk the vehicle?

If so then we have either a pump or fluid issue.

Then we need to scan for codes and find out if there are any there.

Once we know this info we will have a better idea what the issues could be.
