Pressing the accelerator pedal down and it was not going, it was just revving up?

Let me note that minutes before my issue came about, my son had tried to get in the vehicle when it was locked which made the alarm go off and so on, I came out and the dash was flashing “theft attempted “ it allowed me to still start it and even move it down the road and then I was pressing the gas down and it wasn’t going it was just revving up, so I pulled over turned it off started clicking and unlocking it to make the “theft attempted” go off, I was successfully doing that, start back down the road again and again, as my foot was already pressing the gas pedal, it stopped actually going and started revving again, so I drifted off the road into a driveway, couldn’t actually go by pressing the pedal I was only able to park it bc every time I’d turn the car off then restart it, put in gear, it would allow me to actually move it for just a few seconds then it would not do anything again and just keep revving up everytime I’d press the gas down, and I had to keep doing that until I had it parked safely. I unhooked the battery for ten mins, I did all the unlocking and locking mechanisms, I’m not even too sure if the two incidents are related but it did start acting up right after that alarm was activated. I have just a basic reader which it’s not throwing any car codes on so that doesn’t help much. Any suggestions?

The first thing I would do is check the transmission fluid level. I think the security issue and the revving up and not moving issue is separate from this issue.

Here is a guide to help you check the fluid level:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-and-add-transmission-fluid

AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID
DEXRON-VI Automatic Transmission Fluid.

You could have a clogged transmission filter which can cause the same issue. Here is a guide to help you with the service with images below to show you how on your car.

Check out the images (below). Please upload pictures or videos in your response to the problem so we can see what's going on.

Transmission fluid check turned out normal, has the amount it’s supposed to in it, no leaks, never any problem with that, have had the transmission filter changed twice in a year and a half so I doubt it’s that. Cleaned the air filter out, and nothing still doing the same thing, which is, I start it and I’m able to move a couple feet and then it does not accelerate anymore it just sits there and revs up like you're in park and hitting the gas is what it does and sounds like except I’m not in park I’m in drive. Then if I turn the car off then back on again, I’m able to move a few feet again and then nothing. And I can keep on doing that as many times as I need to. I believe it is the security issue still due to the fact this problem started moments after it was activated and I use to be able to lock/unlock my door with the remote or the lock button on the door on either side, for some reason I cannot lock it from the driver side anymore and it takes more clicks then usual on the remote to lock/unlock. I also have read that the security system will shut down the starter, fuel pump and a few other things, although I have tried all the resetting suggestions I’ve seen online and it’s not doing anything different. Could it be my transmission itself if it isn’t in fact anything to do with the security system?

Yes, it could be the transmission, but if the internal mode switch is not working it will tell the PCM it is not in gear, can you have someone check the reverse lights to see if they are working? If not here is the location of the switch. Check out the images (below). Let us know how it goes.

Yes, reverse lights are on and working, now I also just put my car code reader thing in and I’ve done this each time I’m out here messing with it and there haven’t been any codes on it and today I’m getting a P0722 code twice.

The P0722 code in a 2007 Chevrolet Impala is a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) related to the transmission. Specifically, this code indicates an issue with the "Output Speed Sensor Circuit No Signal." So this is says the sensor is not getting a signal which the first thing to do is replace the sensor to see what happens which is # 10 in the images above. Clear the codes once complete.
