2002 Chevy Impala when I accelerate to higher RPMs engine s

Car was running really bad jerking pulling and shutitng off while driving and accelerating mechanic said it was an ignition controll module so I replaced it and it runs fine drives ok on the road, but when the car is in park and I accelerate toward the higher rpms (this model doesnt have a rpm guage) the engine surges as if I were reving the motor Please help gratefull to any advice

If you raise the RPMs in park past a predetermined RPM 3500 rpm, the rev limiter will kick in so you can't damage the engine by over reving it.
It will cycle the fuel injectors and give you a surgeing in the engine.
