My car shut off while driving. It has power to all lights radio and dashboard but no power to engine. So not won't crank over or start. So plug in one reader and it won't go on. Can you please give me any suggestions?

Hi,

More than likely the PCM has failed. The PCM is responsible for allowing all the starting functions and your scanner communicates with this module when you plug it in. So if that is not working then we need to go to this first before anything else. Basically a PCM explains everything that is happening. This is not enough to just replace it because it is not that cheap and not work guessing. The easiest way to figure this out is to hook up the OEM scan tool because this will actually give you a topology report that tells you which modules are not communicating. This way we can tell if the PCM is online or not. I suspect it will not be but without this tool, we have to check for power, ground, and bus communication. There is a chance that the TIPM is the issue which is basically what sends power to all the systems. However, the fact that it appears it is just the starting system that is affected, this would point more to the PCM.

Let me know if you have questions. Thanks
