My car will turn over, but will not start until I spray starting fluid, then it will start and will run for exactly two weeks. I changed spark plugs, checked fuses, can hear fuel pump come on every time before and after spraying starting fluid. There is blow back from intake. The car idles rough after driving when I shut it off and start it up again. Why does it run for two weeks and then will turn over but not start? Also, getting gas from schrader line.

The next time it refuses to start you need to test the fuel pressure using an accurate gauge.

Ignition "ON" Engine "OFF" 40.5 to 47.0 psi

With Regulator Vacuum Applied [1]. 3.0 to 10.0 psi Less than Ignition "ON" Engine "OFF".

Thanks. Can you tell me where the fuel pump relay is located on a 92 chevy corsica 3.1 v6 engine? The fuel pump sounds very strong . That is why I am asking about the relay. I live in a town that has one garage so I have not had it checked yet

Sounds very strong? That does not mean a thing. This fuel pump is wired to run without a relay so that won't be your problem.

Thank you . A faulty fuel pump will not let my car crank over? Is that right? Also I was told that it cannot be the fuel pump relay because my car is made to run without one. Is this true?

It is absolutely true that this engine will run without a fuel pump relay. It has a redundant power supply through the oil pressure switch which will power the fuel pump in the absense of the relay when the engine has oil pressure.

I thought I would update . My car had to have starting fluid before it cranks every time I start it now. Does not last for 2 weeks any more. For 2 days I used starting fluid and it will not start at all. The battery died when trying to start it. Got a jump off from friend. Car still wont start and now the battery has died again after the jump off. It turns over very slowly . Have it on battery charger now. The car will turn over okay for a minute but then it will make an urrr sound when I try to start it and battery is dead again . Friend tried to check spark but he did not see a spark. He thinks the battery could be too weak to check for spark . Can still hear the fuel pump .

Just went outside to try the car again it turned over and tried to crank. Used little start fluid tried again and car backfired thru the intake. Tried again and car cranked with rough idle but it stayed cranked. Drove it for 5 miles . Turned it off and started right back up . Will try it tomorrow. I am taking it to have alternator and battery checked

It sounds like you will a new battery to keep testing or at least have that once charged. But it is starting to sounds like you have a crankshaft angle sensor that that was weak and now has failed completely. Here is a video that will help get an idea on how you will change it.

Let me know how it goes.

I had the alternator and battery checked and was told both were fine. The car started every day after jump off and ran for one week without a problem but today it will not start even with starting fluid. A neighbor said it could be a ground wire from the battery to the starter. Have to put it back on battery charger. This car has a mind of its on . Also the fuel gauge is acting strange
