My Jetta's shiftstick does not want to move at all, I believe it might be a sensor with the brake pedal because the light that detects when I step on the brake does not turn off when I step on it. I want to know if there is an easy way to fix it or if I'll have to take it to the car shop, I haven't found anything on google and I was hoping someone here could help me.

If your brake lights also don't work, it could be that the brake light switch is the cause of both issues. Also check the fuse and the park / neutral interlock relay.
