1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse making clacking noise then stalled

2 weeks ago I had gotten an oil change, they had to put 5 quarts in and said that the timing cap is missing. Today it was clacking real bad so I put 2 quarts in then drove @ 10-15 miles down the freeway, when exiting the noise gotten louder. Then approx. Another 5 miles while turning the corner at a stop light it stalled. Now it wont even turn over. Did it throw a rod and now the whole engine needs replaced or could it possibily be something thats able to be fixed or replaced without having to spend thousands on another engine?

Symptoms does not bear good tidings.

Engage 4th speed and try to push vehicle with handbrake released. If vehicle does not move with a hard push, the engine has seize and most likely a new engine is in order.
