No heater operation

The 2 hoses are right at the firewall yes?
Wouldnt the car have to be elevated to reach these hoses? I ask because it seems darn near impossible to get to these hoses on my 1995 protege.

I would not disconnect the hoses from the firewall side and the heater core

but from the engine side leaving the hoses connected to the heater core
trying to remove them hoses from the heater core may cause damage to the heater core
